Earlier this week, the Utah football program's fans were worried about a potential future Ute. Now they're worried about one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the program after Cam Rising left the game late in the second half.

Rising and his squad were absolutely dominating the Baylor Bears to open the game. It was fun. It was surprisingly easy. It was 23-0. And then Rising suffered an apparent injury to his throwing hand and had to leave the game.

When Rising had to leave the game, it sucked the energy out of Rice-Eccles stadium in a way that was so severe that the announcers comments on the vibe several times towards the end of the half.

Utah football fans worried about Cam Rising after first-half injury

The worry of course, is that Rising is going to have to miss significant time. This after he missed all of the 2023 season with a knee injury. At the moment, the injury that took him out of the game is one that will see him sit out the entire season.

It's said that it is an injury to a finger on the throwing hand. However, it does look as though it might mean the end of the game and that freshman Isaac Wilson will play the second half.

That's not terrible on its face, considering that Baylor isn't giving the Utah football team much of a fight. However, it's all about making sure the Utes don't let the Bears get back into the game with a young quarterback at the helm.

And then of course, it's about Cam Rising being able to return to play for Utah football in the very near future.
