Utah Utes basketball among favorites for one of state's best
While the Utah Utes basketball program is taking a backseat to the football team, the hoops campaign is right around the corner. In order for the basketball team to compete in a very tough Big 12, they’re going to need to load up on talent.
The good news there is that the state of Utah has some very good hoopers. That includes Chris Nwuli out of Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant. The 6-foot-7, 200 pound power forward is considered the fourth best player in the state and 19th best player at his position in the class.
Now the Utah Utes basketball program is officially one of his favorites. Nwuli announced his final six on Sunday afternoon. But that doesn’t mean the Utes are anywhere near done with this recruitment. They’ve got some serious fighting to do against power conference schools.

In addition to Utah, Nwuli has picked UCLA, USC, Louisville, TCU and San Diego State. It’s probably not a surprise that quite a few schools in the running are teams that were in the Pac-12 or are in the Mountain West.
Things are shifting, but Nwuli still wants to be around his usual stomping grounds. And then there’s Louisville, the outlier considering there’s no connection to Utah’s current conference or their region.
The Cardinals have been very bad of late, but most people think they won’t be held down for long. The next step for the Utah Utes basketball program is to get Chris Nwuli on campus and then get a commitment out of him.
