One of the biggest fan favorites when it comes to former Utah football players was the victim of The Turk on the Denver Broncos. That’s the bad news. The good news is that it seems likely that the former Ute will find himself another squad.

The Denver Broncos reportedly are done with veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick, though they are also said to be looking to find a way to cut him in a way where he will immediately find a new home.

As Denver continues to try and reshape its roster and turn itself back into a contender, they’re “moving on” from Patrick. The man who was one of the best Utah football players to come through Salt Lake City in the last decade will almost certainly find  a new spot if the Broncos can make it work.

“With significant depth and talent at WR, Broncos are moving on from popular veteran Tim Patrick, per source,” Mike Klis wrote on Monday. “Broncos are currently exploring trade possibilities for Patrick, who is generating strong interest on market in advance of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline”

Patrick’s is an interesting because of just how much he’s beloved by his team. And how much he’s respected around the NFL.

While he’s been with Denver since 2018, he hasn’t played a snap since 2021. Yet he’s stayed on the Broncos’ roster while sitting out every game in the last two seasons.

One reason for that is when he did play, he was quite effective. In both 2020 and 2021 he started every one of the 31 games he appeared, hauling in at least 50 receptions in both years.

Tim Patrick played for the Utah football team from 2014 to 2016 and his best season was his last, when he caught 45 passes for 711 yards and 5 touchdowns.
