Everyone should take a minute if they’re on twitter to send a congrats to Utah Utes women’s basketball player Michelle Plouffe (@plouffey_15).
Michelle reached the pinnacle of what every athlete hopes to do in their sport when she was selected with the 19th pick by the Seattle Storm in the WNBA draft.
If you’re not a women’s basketball fan, here are some stats to contemplate.
- 2100 career points (2nd All-Time)
- 1155 career rebounds (1st All-Time)
- 149 career blocks (2nd All-Time)
Michelle is certainly one of the best if not the best player ever to play at the U. She kind of got a tough break for her career as Utah entered the Pac-12. Just as Utah’s talent was upgraded for a run, injuries to a couple of starters derailed what would have been a great season for the team and Michelle’s senior year. But her talent cannot be denied.
So congrats Michelle and thank you for making the Utah Family so proud.
And as a side note, I wish this Utah Women’s team could get more coverage. They’ve done good work over the years. I’m going to make a real effort to give them more space and time next season. If people can start doing it make we can get this team at least some of the attention they deserve.
