Utah Utes Basketball: Thanks For Coming Ahmad Fields

It what was not an entirely unexpected move, Ahmad Fields announced that he was transferring from the University of Utah. Fields says that he wants to play closer to home, and the lack of minutes couldn’t have helped him. I wish Fields the best and somewhere he is going to make someone a very nice player.
I also wish he’d gotten more of a shot. Fields had a toughness that truly seemed to lack with our ball club. Fields in the rare moments he did get always seemed to perform. As a friend pointed out last night on twitter, did Delon and Jordan Loveridge really need to go 35 a game against our 340ish out of conference schedule?
But that does nearly finalize recruiting. The Utes are still chasing an Austrian center named Jakob Poeltl and haven’t entirely shut it down on a couple of other guys. Any more signings means that someone else will be departing. And since Poeltl wouldn’t be choosing Utah not to play, that departure would almost certainly be Kovacvic or Jeremy Olsen.
Check back in a few hours and I’ll break down what the roster going forward looks like.
