Utah v Obama St. Preview

Well Ute fans here is as close as you’re going to get to being able to yell directly at the President.  So if you’d like to the brother in law of that gay communist muslim that beating his basketball team means the government should keep their hands off of your Medicare, well today is the day.

The Oregon St. Beavers come to town fresh off of a surprisingly close loss at Colorado.  And as much as it possibly can be, this is a must win game for the Utes to show they are going to really be competitive in the Pac 12.  Losing to Oregon in overtime in a maddening kind of way is one thing, dropping one to a team who lost to Coppin St. and Akron and starting the Pac 12 ohhh and two is something entirely different.

OSU is paced by Roberto Nelson and his 21 PPG and Devon Collier with 17 points and 8 rebounds a game.

A big concern about the Utes has to be outside shooting.  A theme that developed around the Oregon game was that bad outside shooting cost us the game.  And 3 of 19 is really terrible from three.  But if you look at the stats, Utah is shooting 35 percent from three on the season.  But against the three best teams the Utes have faced, they went 7 of 29 against Boise (24 percent), 9 of 29 against BYU (31 percent and BYU doesn’t play defense) and of course 3 of 19 (15 percent) against the Ducks.

That makes the Utes 19 of 77 (25 percent) against the 3 best teams they’ve faced.  So I think we all need to be aware of the question, is Utah really a decent outside shooting team or did that horrid OOC just convince us of that.

Then again, Oregon St. just isn’t that awesome.

So we’ll have a few more answers about this team after today, so we’ve got that going for us which is nice.

And just maybe we can kick so gay commie muslim ass too.
