So we take a break from dissecting Utah football to discuss the doings around the Pac-12.

As we all know by now, USC offered their head coaching job to Steve Sarkisian and he accepted.  Ed Orgeron was so pissed he took his sword and decided to march back home to Louisiana.  And I have to say, you can’t blame him.  If you look at what Big Ed did for you this year and then you look at what Sark has done in Seattle, how do you not give Ed two years to see what can happen.  I mean it’s not like Sark wouldn’t be there anyway.

As for the move itself, well of all the folks who could have been at USC, Steve Sarkisian is nearly the best case scenario.  I mean we’ve seen enough of his body of work to know that he’ll be a great recruiter and the team will always fold at inopportune times.  Think about this week.  If Connor Halliday doesn’t throw a pick and instead goes down and scores like he just did.  Washington fans would have been screaming for him to be fired.  Sark was that close to dropping back to back Apple Cups.

But this is where the story gets even more fascinating.

Washington’s prime candidate is Jim Mora, who as it turns out is a really good coach.  As I’m writing these words Mora has not made a final decision.

But if he goes, that means the South Division traded Jim Mora for Steve Sarkisian.  And wouldn’t EVERYONE in the South Division start doing the dance of joy about that.  I mean getting Sark here is one thing, but damn, getting rid of Jim Mora as well.

Now save me the 0-2 record against Sark talk.  One game saw our starting QB go down to injury and the other saw us start a true freshman.  I’ve seen Sark’s resume and the best Kyle can offer is much better.

So Jim Mora, let me just say that Seattle with some money is very nice.  You can spend the rainy months recruiting in warm locations and the summers are quite beautiful.  Also you’ll have good coffee.  Should we call U-Haul for you?
