Utah Utes Women’s Basketball vs Arizona

In case you haven’t noticed, the Utah Utes Women’s basketball team faces Arizona in the Pac-12 tournament in Seattle today at 3:20 MST.  And judging by attendance you haven’t noticed.

For a little rundown on the Utes season.  The women finished 6th in the Pac-12 which has to be something we’re proud of considering the way a lot of other sports have gone.  The stumbled out of the gate in the Pac-12, largely because they faced the best of the conference.  The Women opened 1-7.

Since that point, they’ve gone 7-3 and have themselves solidly in the middle of the conference.

Arizona is a different story however.  While the Lady Wildcats finished tied for 10th and had only four wins, two of them came against the Lady Utes.  I saw one of the games in person and Arizona’s quickness and press just simply presents a matchup problem.  Once the Utes get into an offense Michelle Plouffe and Tarjyn Wicijowski can take over the game inside.  But Utah’s guards turn the ball over too much and fell in love with an outside shot that wasn’t dropping.

So the Lady Utes have their luck cut out for them today.  A win today means a match-up with 3rd seeded UCLA tomorrow.

All the action is on the Pac-12 Networks, so check it out.
