Utah Utes Basketball loses to Arizona

The Utah Utes looked like this basketball game against the Arizona Wildcats was going to get away from them.  And then some freshmen stepped up.  Jeremy Olsen finally got into double digit minutes and gave the Utes 12 points and 6 boards on 6-8 shooting, and Dakari Tucker who has been missing in action of late hit two big threes to keep it very close.  The Utes were led in scoring with 16 from Jared Dubois and 15 from Jason Washburn.

Arizona had the look like they were going to run away from the Utes.  And then they went into their passive mode as the ‘Cats have done all season and it nearly cost them.  Mark Lyons had 18 for Arizona while Solomon Hill and Brandon Ashley added 10 each.

So what now for the Runnin Utes.

Utah heads to Colorado next week followed by the Bay Area roadie the week after.  Utah will finish the season at home against the Oregon schools.  This will be an interesting group of games for the Utes who surely would like to make some kind of statement other than “we suck” heading into next year.  Colorado and Oregon will be fighting for NCAA position.  Utah matches up horribly with the Bay Area schools and Oregon St.

Utah still hasn’t passed last seasons Pac-12 win total and also has not won 10 division one games this year.

So the conclusion from this weeks games, we played two solid games.  But then again we played these same two teams tough a week ago.  Making it 25 games into the season and still not quite sure what this has all been about.

But playing well beats not playing well and for Utah hoops we’ll take any kind of good news.
