Utah Football: It’s Strange Not Knowing What Is Coming in Tempe

Here we are at Game 4 and I’m still not really sure who these Utes are.  Are they the guys who came out like wet noodles against Utah St.?  Are they the guys who came out fighting against BYU despite missing several weapons?  And what does the loss versus Utah St. or the win over BYU mean.

On the other side we have Arizona St.  They crushed a Big Sky team and then Illinois before going to Missouri and laying down for the first half of the game.  Does Illinois suck?  Is Arizona St. really good or were they over hyped.

My first thought is this, the point spread has gone to seven and I don’t think there is a chance in hell that Arizona St. covers seven.  Utah’s blowouts over the last few years have come either against great teams or when they were in turmoil.  While good, Arizona St. isn’t great.  And while the Jon Hays helmed Utes aren’t world beaters, they certainly know who they are.

So that means Utah will do what they did last week, limit mistakes, play defense.  Maybe we can not have the punt game give points away for the third week in a row.  If that occurs Utah has a shot.

Like I said yesterday, there are still a lot of unanswered questions in the Pac-12 South and this weekend will go some distance to answering them.  Starting with Utah v Arizona St.
