Utah Basketball: I’ll Take Some CRUMPets Please…
Yes I’m going to say something good about Utah Basketball.
We could actually be back to the year we fired Jim Boylen if we land one kid, his name is GIVON CRUMP.
Crump is a serious ball player. He was at Baylor the year they went to the Elite 8, transferred to Fresno and then left for JC when the Fresno staff got fired. Crump has blown up this year at Pasadena JC. Crump is averaging 20 PPG, 7 RPG and shooting 38% from three. In essence he is Will Clyburn again.
The problem that we face next year without a guy like Crump is that we’re a team of role players with no star. That might be Loveridge someday but it won’t next year. Crump would give us that star.
So instead of taking 3 years to get back to where we were with Jim Boylen, Crump might allow us to do it in two.
As for our chances? My friend and author of “100 Things Every Utah Football Fan Should Know Before They Die, Pat Sheltra pointed out that there isn’t a ton of room for guys like Crump at good schools, although Washington and Cal have spoken with Crump. He took one of his five official visits to Utah and we’re the biggest name offering right now. Dan Sorensen of Rivals.com/Utezone.com says that we shouldn’t be troubled by his 3 schools in 3 years and that he is a really good kid.
Too put a percentage on it, it’s at least better than 20% and maybe approaching 50% unless someone bigger jumps in the game.
So lets all hope for some CRUMPets with our tea in a couple of weeks.
