I Don’t Really Know What to Say About Utah Hoops Anymore…

We didn’t lose to Colorado by all that much.

What does it mean?

I don’t ask it to be snarky, I ask it because I don’t know.  I’m sure that when I post this I’ll get an avalanche of comments about how I hate Larry and don’t understand greatness when I see it.

And hell maybe I don’t.

But here is what we’re looking at.  We have a team that has evolved from being blown out a lot to only being blown out a little.  But we aren’t winning and haven’t surprised anyone.  Our best win was over a .500 Wazzu team who because of a great effort from a guard we threw off the team and will probably fire their coach this year or next.

We have a coach who sent nine players packing. And would probably send this entire team packing as well if he could recruit over them.

And the rebirth of Ute hoops depends upon this group of players…

A guy who averaged 7 PPG at LSU that every western program but Utah passed on.
A Big Sky guard no other larger program wanted.
A freshman from Utah with no out of state offer other than Colorado St.
A couple of other freshmen without big offers.
A transfer from Southern Utah who got 7 MPG there.
And a returning missionary who had some promise.

Is there a Van Horn/Miller/Bogut in that group.  Is Loveridge going to leave everyone asking how did all the big schools miss on him?  Are we going to challenge for the Pac-12 title two years from now?

And if you believe that, what about this season or those guys makes you believe it?

I’d really like to know.
