Let’s Call It Apprehension…
Now I like the idea of Brian Johnson as OC. It was a clear career progression for him. He’s always done things young so I don’t have a huge issue with his age. But with the departure of Tim Davis, this offensive staff doesn’t have a ton of experience. And that has to cause some apprehension.
My hope for what is going on right about now. Brian Johnson is spending a bunch of time between then and now in the lovely city of Starkville, Miss. If we’re going back to more of a spread set up, I’d love to see Brian getting a ton of advice from Mr. Dan Mullen. In fact if the whole offense went down there from last week until Spring Ball starts, I think that would be a very good thing.
I’m nowhere near a freakout over this for a couple of reasons. The biggest of which is, we have a ton of talent coming back. We have a lot of talent at the RB spot and God Willing Jordan Wynn will stay healthy. Combine that with a nasty defense and that would go a very long ways to covering up any growing pains.
But with no long time grizzled veterans around, I think it would be strange if we didn’t all have some butterflies going into the Northern Colorado game.
