The Blogger Who Cried Wulff…
Now this isn’t me making a call saying it will happen, but there are some faint signs that our new Offensive Coordinator just might be former Washington State head coach Paul Wulff.
Now no one told me this was certainly going to happen, its more of a connect the dots sort of thing. So if its someone else don’t come freaking out at me for making this call, because I’m not. I feel comfortable saying Wulff has interviewed for the job however.
So what do we know about Wulff? He’s from California and played at Washington State and in then NFL for four seasons and the short lived World League of American Football for two more. He then became the O-Line coach at Eastern Washington, the offensive coordinator in 1998 and head coach at Eastern in 2000. His teams at Eastern made the I-AA playoffs three times, twice reaching the quarterfinals.
As for thoughts, I don’t hate this idea. Wulff is an offensive guy. He knows the Pac-12 and believes in a kind of offense that would appeal to Kyle, plus the NFL playing experience is a bonus. Plus despite a crap ton of injuries, his Wazzu team seemed to be showing some life.
Further I’ve received several tweets from Wazzu fans who hate the idea, which makes me like it even more. First, they went to Wazzu so what could they possibly know about anything that doesn’t involve cows or weed. I mean it’s hard to believe they could focus their eyes from their drunken stumble from the Coug to the game to make an honest evaluation about a coach. If they were smart, they wouldn’t have gone to Wazzu.
So we’ll see how this shakes out. Utah fans have been waiting awhile to see who will take the reigns from Norm Chow.
