Anything you can do I can do better (thoughts on Arizona St. vs Utah)…

People who’ve been reading my blog since it’s inception know that I enjoy making fun of Arizona St.  Their fans were probably the least welcoming when we came into the Pac-12 plus Dennis Erickson jokes just write themselves (mostly because Erickson is too drunk to write them BOOOM).  But today’s hot hoops action as ASU travels to Utah is just too fascinating to spend another column calling the women who go to ASU, “skank.”  Even though they are.

Herb Sendek booted off his leading scorer.  Now the reason as far as I can find is unclear but it has something to do with attitude and King being unhappy about his roll.  I found an interview where King said he nearly left last season.  So it is clear there was some friction.  Checking the ever reliable sports message boards, some ASU fans think this was about Sendek playing CYA for a horrible season.

Enter, Big Sexy Larry Krystkowiak.  Larry also chucked his leading scorer in Jiggy Watkins.  He did this because Jiggy struggled to be on-time to the AM practices.  This looks like it was caused by some sort of sleep disorder.  But some people including myself think this is Larry playing CYA.  Advantage Coach Larry because the Ute fans in general seem to be eating this up.

Then there are losses from the team.  I saw an online news report saying ASU has lost nine players since 2009.  I mean that is nice work by Sendek but Coach Larry managed that in one season.  Advantage Coach Larry.

So today is a fascinating game.  One coach is probably playing for his life in Sendek.  One coach should be playing for his life in Coach Larry.  This is probably one of the last few chances for either team to get a win.  So in a very sad way, it’s going to be n battle at the JMHC.
