Seven weeks ago the Utah football dreams in its first seem to be dashed. Jordan Wynn’s other shoulder was injured and we all thought that was it. Not much that happened over the next four weeks made us feel better. We kicked PITT’s ass but we assumed that had much more to do with PITT being a Big East school and not that we had a real way to win.
It took time but we found an offense that worked with John White carrying the ball and a QB from Butte College who was headed to Nebraska-Omaha. A monster amount of credit has to go to Norm Chow and QB coach Brian Johnson.
Because despite the turnaround, lets face facts, Jon Hays is not a good QB.
But they have created situations where Hays has time to throw and can make good decisions.
It has to be the best coaching job of Chow’s career, finding an offense that would work for Hays.
I suspected that BYU fans were idiots for running him and UCLA fans were idiots for blaming him for last season, but to see it confirmed feels really really good.
So thank you Norm.
Also Brian deserves credit as Hays has become a solid game manager instead of just chucking the ball away.
Its a good time to be a Utah Football Fan.
