Utah Utes Basketball: Namon Wright Update

facebooktwitterreddit

If you didn’t see it over the weekend, Southern California prep star Namon Wright is rumored to be asking out of his National Letter Of Intent at Missouri after the coaching change there.

This is important because it clears the way for Utah to officially recruit Namon.  That is exactly what they’re doing.  There is also one other great tidbit in that article.

It has been rumored that UCLA is not in Namon’s good graces and this article indicates that the Bruins will likely not be a consideration.  The quote:

"“While some have speculated that UCLA might be an option, Barahona said, “They’re really heavy at the shooting guard position.”"

As we have explained in the past, Namon Wright went to high school with Brandon Taylor and is likely friends with Dakari Tucker.  With UCLA out of the picture, one would have to think Utah’s chances of landing him have become very good.  The only fly in the ointment could be a decision by USC’s Andy Enfield to get involved.

This is a name to keep your eye on Utah basketball fans.
