I’ve heard a couple of people start to whisper now, that Larry just might be a candidate for the Cal job.

As I noted yesterday, Mike Montgomery and Larry have a relationship.  Montgomery will likely have input into this selection, although he made another person known as his choice to replace hime.

Plus I’ve been told repeated by people, IN THE KNOW, that Larry’s wife is unhappy in Salt Lake City and wants to live in a bigger city with more action.  I’ve been told by the same people that Larry has always viewed the Utah job as a “stepping stone.”

While Cal certainly doesn’t have the history that Utah does in basketball terms, it certainly is a higher profile job in a bigger city, essentially meeting all of Larry’s requirements.

Cal also has financial issues but it wouldn’t take much to pay more than the less than a million Larry is making right now.

I don’t know if this is something that will happen, but there is likely interest on both sides with this one.

I’ll keep you updated.
