What I have been very surprised about is the amount of handwringing and worry going on about that Utah Football position coaching hires.

I just don’t get it.

Utah fans were upset that Kyle was too controlling with the staff and wasn’t making good hires and they hated Brian Johnson being OC.  Then he brings in Dave Christensen, who has an excellent offensive reputation.

It next becomes clear Kyle let Christensen handle things the offensive coaching hires.  It seems those hires didn’t “blow people away.”  Although I’m not sure who you hire at Offensive Line and Wide Receiver coach who would blow you away.  Both these guys seem like solid choices.

Plus it seems like the Kyle did exactly what fans were hoping for in not hiring guys he knows.

But the greatest concern seems to be over Aaron Roderick moving to QB coach.  This is the one I don’t get the most.

I’m not sure what people think A-Rod is going to do to screw up the QB’s.  I’m pretty sure he’s been around offense and knows what a QB should do.  I don’t think he is going to ask them to try throwing with their opposite hand or anything.

If you want resume, it’s there.  Aaron coached QB’s at Southern Utah and he has spent the past two seasons as passing game coordinator and before that was connected to offensive coordinator position in some fashion.

And the greatest point of all is, most of the real quarterback coaching will be done by Dave Christensen as they learn his offense.

To summarize, Utah hired a couple young hungry guys.  We also brought in a well though of offensive coordinator.  And we assigned someone who knows a lot about the passing game to coach quarterbacks.

Why are we upset?
