Utah v Stanford: Head v Heart

Ok my head isn’t crazy, it’s telling me Stanford likely wins and convincingly so.

But my heart has fallen in love with this team and its saying that we can win this game.

The Utes stand at 3-2 but they’ve shown more fight than we’ve seen since 2008.  The Utes had three picks against Oregon St. and six more against UCLA and had a shot to tie one and win the other.  It’s just incredible.  They just won’t quit.

I’ve prided myself on becoming a much more rational fan.  It’s why when a certain group of fans freak out at me because I haven’t fallen in love with Larry and started talking final fours, I point out that I’d like to see Larry break the 20 regular season win barrier first.  But something about this football team has me all ga-ga.

And I think it starts with Travis Wilson.  The kid was thrown into the fire and took a beating last year.  This year he’s blossomed.  He keeps on fighting and throwing and running no matter what happens.  And the team seems to feed off of it.  Now it seems that he played with a 100+ degree fever against UCLA.

So I find myself, even after hearing that Jake Murphy will likely miss the season with a wrist injury, believing that the Utes are going to shock the college football world on Saturday.

I know it’s my heart talking but I can’t help myself.
