Utah v. TDS: I Just Don’t See Utah Losing

I’ve thought about this essentially from the end of the Oregon St. game, mostly because I didn’t want to sit and linger over a game being so close yet so far away.

But here it is nearing Monday evening and I’ve come to one conclusion…

Unless Utah craps the bed, I mean like the guy in Trainspotting did coming off of heroin, I just can’t see Utah losing this game.

And I’ll start with the Team Down South.  It starts with their quarterback who went 9 for 26 against Texas and who is 22 of 66 for the season.  That means BYU is one thing, one dimensional.  I know fans of Provo Tech think things are different because of the return of Dr. Anae, but two things hit me there.  First, Anae never dominated the Utes, in fact his wins required some miracle to happen.  And even if things are wildly better, I don’t see Kyle and Kalani getting beat down by a team that is so very one dimensional.

Then we come to their defense, which is very good.  But it was very good last year and our offenseless offense did enough.  We’re an order of magnitude better this year.

Not to mention Utah is playing the wounded animal part right now.  The Utes are fighting for their bowl lives.  While the Team Down South has been strutting thinking that Mack Brown being not a smart man had nothing to do with their domination of Texas (not noticing that Texas got dominated again last week).

So yeah, maybe I’m a homer and being myopic, but right now, I just don’t see how the Utes lose.

    Red-goggled delusions.

I notice you don’t have an actual rebuttal. So yeah you know the Utes will win too.

I still can’t quite get over how bad Oregon State made the secondary look. Hill may not have the same kind of night that Mannion had, but if the Utes do lose, that may be where to start looking for answers.

Manning was just spectacular and it took every bit of being great to beat us. Hill just can’t do that to us.

I agree. +1 for the Trainspotting reference.

The spread is BYU by 7. Given Utah’s won 3 in a row that number seems high but Utah losing is far from impossible and in fact probable in the eyes of most.

That’s because BYU fans are degenerate gamblers. The line is not what Vegas thinks will happen, it’s designed to get a 50-50 split on betting.
