Utah Utes Super Sunday Round-up

First Utah Utes Basketball…

The Men’s not so Runnin Utes forced 10 first half turnovers, a solid opening to the 2nd half and a Tad Boyle T to open up a 22 point lead on the Colorado Buffaloes.  And then we finished playing.  The trouble was there were about 10 minutes left in the game.  But unlike against Cal States, Utah managed to have just enough.  The break out start was Boylen recruit Jeremy Olsen.  God Willing we see much more of him, much less of Renan Lenz.  Look for more Ute Men’s Hoop Chat Wednesday.

And then what do you know, the women go and win a game at USC.  The Women’s team has had the same struggles that the men’s team has had, which is a bit sad because it doesn’t seem like women’s basketball being consistently good is such a distant memory.

But the real tragedy of the week happened at the Utah Gymnastics.  The Red Rocks defeated Arizona St. by nearly a full point, which for those who don’t know is a lot.  But the Utes lost their best all-around and clutch performer in Corrie Lorthup to a torn achilles.  A week ago at Arizona is was a clutch routine by Lorthup on the beam that saved an otherwise great performance by the Utes.

Looking ahead

The Lady Utes Hoop Squad is at UCLA today.

Larry’s Boys make the Oregon roadie starting at Oregon St. on Wednesday.  (meaning the women host the Oregon schools)

The Gym Squad goes to Cal

And it looks like Baseball and Softball are getting underway.

Not to mention Football National Letter of Intent Day on Wednesday.

Busy Week.  Enjoy the Super Bowl.
