Utah Basketball: Lets Look at Willamette University Basketball

facebooktwitterreddit

You know what might have been an interesting game to watch, Simon Fraser v Willamette.  Willamette was 5-20 last year and lost 2 of their top 3 leading scorers.  The two guys to watch for on the mighty (look up mascot later) are 5′ 11″ Senior Terrell Malley and 6′ 6″ Senior Sean Dart, who is related to our own MEGA-FAN J-Dart (ok this might not be true, I didn’t really check.  Dart was a transfer from that powerhouse Eastern Oregon, so expect big things.

They have no one over 6′ 6″ so when Washburn and Bachynski each go for 20 and 10, more people will be screaming at me wondering why I haven’t made my Final Four reservations yet.

They might have to be the first basketball school to seek out a Samoan connection in basketball.  Talanoa Smith is from Pago Pago, American Samoa.

Familiar to fans in the state of Utah would be Oliver Hughes who played at Judge Memorial.  He was all-state twice in Utah, so I’m sure someone on some Utah message board criticized Jim Boylen for not recruiting him.  You know who you are.  Oliver averaged 1.4 PPG last season but I’m sure he’s ready for a breakout year.

So strap yourselves in Ute fans, it’s going to be a barn burner on the hill tonight.
