The Frilly Bow: A Look at the Week that Was…

The clear story of the week was the Josh Hearlihy drama that engulfed Utah Basketball.  Early in the week we found out Utah was trying to get out of it’s LOI with fall signee Josh Hearlihy.  This was my original opinion on the subject.  Here is how I felt a day later.  And I have to say I feel the same.  You quite simply honor the LOI here.  The most hilarious attack on this point of view was that those saying this was a mistake would have slammed Larry for bringing this kid in.  While that is probably true, at the end of the day don’t you choose the option that doesn’t allow other schools to say, “If Utah finds someone better they’ll screw you.”  Shocking.

The other news was that our must get target, Givon Crump, spent this last weekend visiting New Mexico St.  Now I hope we get Crump but this is one of those red flags.  How are we in a battle with New Mexico St. over a recruit?

We also had some scrimmage notes from last saturday’s scrimmage.  Tomorrow we’ll have some more notes about this weeks scrimmage and some thoughts all week long during this final week of spring ball.

Finally, I urge you to go and check this story out about Utah Tennis player Natasha Smith.  It’s about how she’s battled drugs and alcohol to find success on the courts at the University of Utah.  A great story.

Coming up this week, you’ll see Hoyo’s Revenge’s first recruit profile.  More on Utah Football and a new feature we’ll debut later in the week.   And maybe God Willing, some good news surrounding basketball.
