A successful first football season in the Pac-12…

While part of me is temped to be depressed because of what could have been, at the end of the day, Utah fans have to be very happy.  We showed of ourselves very well and by all accounts should have made the Pac-12 title game without having a Division One QB.  Norm Chow should have been assistant of the year for finding a way for us to get offense when we shouldn’t have had any.

Things started nicely, we beat Montana St., kicked BYU’s ass and took what turned out to be a great USC team to the wire.

AND THEN THE WORLD EXPLODED.

Jordan Wynn was Jordan Wynn again and his other shoulder exploded.  Somehow we managed not to have a back up QB.  Then came the asskickings from Washington and Arizona St.  We beat Pitt because that’s what we do and then the Cal asskicking.  At that point we all had to think the season was over.

But it wasn’t.  Somehow, John White IV just took over.  And he was so good Jon Hays didn’t have to do much of anything.  Getting that offense to work is one of the great coaching jobs ever.  Just AMAZING.

And then we shit the bed vs Colorado.  That was a strange out of character game.  But maybe it was a plan to not get raped by Oregon, makes as much sense as anything.  Those games are so rare under Kyle that its hard for me to get too worked up.

And then an amazing comeback in the Sun Bowl.

So what does the future hold?

In many ways, next season depends upon the QB play.  Our season hinges upon the fragile shoulders of Jordan Wynn and two very talented true freshmen.  We get USC in SLC.  If we have QB play we could have a shot.  Look forward to see what will happen.

The Football Future is so Bright, GOTTA WEAR SHADES.
