Arizona State… The Angry Little Puppy of College Football

Have you ever seen a little puppy get angry.  They start growling and trying to bite and tear at everything.  But their just so cute its adorable.

Over the weekend the Never-Ending Story of the Arizona State coaching search turned to Kyle Whittingham.  Now that is adorable in two parts.

1. That anyone associated with Arizona St. thought they could actually make it happen.

2. How adorable their fans were acting like this would just so obviously happen.

You know you’re Arizona St., right?  You had one brief moment of glory, when Jake Plummer hadn’t yet become the mistake, surrounded by 30 years of mediocrity.  So you think that Kyle Whittingham is going to come to ASU for no more money with worse facilities and bad fan support?  He’s going to leave a program he’s built for the clustereff that is ASU?  And you know Utah is in the same conference right?

I mean what kind of delusion does it take to think like that

Utah fans have dealt with the poor man’s version of Arizona St. for years, San Diego St.  Everyone asks,  how are they not better and says that they are just the right coach away from being great.  They are a sleeping giant.

Ever notice how the giant never wakes up?

While some people get angry over their unearned arrogance, I find it amusing, just like that angry little puppy.

So run along ASU, hire the next coach you’re going to fire in four years.  And don’t forget to tell us how its different this time.
