Last week in Ute Sports…

Just wanted to give a few thoughts about the week that was in Ute Sports.

Somehow this Hays formula is going to be enough to get us to a bowl game.  Make the game simple for him.  Don’t put him in any position where he can hurt us.  The O-line is playing solidly.  Give the ball to Juan Blanco.  If Hays can just hit on a couple of plays a game, its enough.  While this season could have been something special, what it’s going to be is alright, all things considered.

As for hoops…

You can talk about things being truly awful, but when you see them in real life, its so much awfuller.  It looks like Kareem Storey is the real deal.  But I have a question about him in a second.  Cedric Martin can shoot some threes.  Other than that wow just wow.  And the part of me that still loves Jim Boylen has to giggle that we lost on two piss poor inbounds plays and a coaching screw-up with Storey not knowing how many timeouts there were.

Now the Storey question.  If Storey is the real deal and he takes the starting point by say conference play if not sooner, what of Glen Dean.  Glen Dean was promised a great deal to make the transfer from Eastern Washington.  Dean and Storey are essentially the same player.  Is Storey going to start most of this year then be comfortable with seriously reduced minutes next year?  Is Dean going to accept not having starters minutes?  And there is no way you can put two 5′ 10″ guys on the court together.

Combined with Utah being +2 already on scholarships and staring at +4, its all going to be interesting to see.  Far more interesting that watching this hoops team play.

(and a note to those who want to attack me, we are effing awful this year, but we’ll have a new team next year, so what I saw about this year is limited to this year)
